Tet holiday or lunar new year holiday is getting very closed, this is the biggest and most excited festival in Vietnam. You will be very lucky to have a chance to travel to Vietnam during this time but be sure that, you will have some advance tips and information. 1. Book services in advance
The need of travelling of local people during this time is triple times as normal days so it is easy to get fully booked for all travelling services like train, plane and public transportations.  Our advice is to plane and confirm all services to a local tour operator as early as possible.
2. Be aware that, shops, restaurants, markets, stores and companies CLOSED
This is the traditional festival, the time for families’ reunion, the time to visit relatives and friends. So most Vietnamese people will put aside the works and only spend time for holidays. 4. Money and spending money
Be sure that, you have enough cash (USD or Vietnam Dong) before to spend dung a week. Banks and exchange counters will be closed and you will have to change money at hotels with bad exchange rates.Most things are more expensive than usual so please do not expect a good price if you want to buy anything during Tey holidays.
5. Pickpockets & thefts 
Do not bring much money when you go out these days, be careful of your value things like cell phone and camera. It is time many people go out, walking on the streets and it is good chance for thefts.
6. Recommendations
It is said that, you are more than welcome if you have a chance to visit to a local family and celebrate new year with them. So, if you can contact a local tour operator to arrange this for you in advance, that would be the best thing to do during these days. In Vietnam, people still think that, to receive a lucky money by new year is the good sign for a healthy & prosperous year, especially to children and old people.
